# Connect your app to Mailchimp

> Connect your app to Mailchimp to collect newsletter signups, manage audience contacts and tags, and display campaign performance in your Lovable app.

[Mailchimp](https://mailchimp.com/) is an email marketing service for managing contacts and campaigns. The **Mailchimp** connector lets your Lovable app collect newsletter signups, organize contacts, and display campaign reports from your account.

**Mailchimp** is available as an [app + chat connector](https://docs.lovable.dev/integrations/app-connectors.md): one shared connection that works in [Chats](https://docs.lovable.dev/features/chats.md), in the project chat while you build, and in your published apps.

> [!NOTE]
>
> This page is about **Mailchimp**, where you manage marketing audiences (contact lists), contacts, and campaigns. Looking for transactional email, such as receipts and order confirmations? See [Mailchimp Transactional](https://docs.lovable.dev/integrations/mailchimp-transactional.md). The two are different features.

With **Mailchimp**, your app can:

* Add or update contacts in an audience
* Add or remove contact tags and read audience segments, groups of contacts that match your conditions
* Display campaign results, including opens, clicks, unsubscribes, and bounces
* Read campaign content and compare reports from sent campaigns

## Common use cases and example apps

These examples show what you can build with **Mailchimp**, each with a prompt to start from.

| Example app | Example prompt | Description |
| :- | :- | :- |
| **Newsletter signup form** | *Use Mailchimp and build a newsletter signup form that subscribes contacts to my audience after they confirm their email address.* | **Collect confirmed newsletter subscribers.** The app sends signup details to your audience and requests email confirmation. |
| **Event registration page** | *Use Mailchimp and build an event registration page that adds attendees who choose marketing updates to my audience with an event tag.* | **Organize event contacts for follow-up.** The app records the selected contacts in your audience and adds the event tag. |
| **Customer contact directory** | *Use Mailchimp and build an internal contact directory where my team can look up contacts by their email address and update their names and tags.* | **Maintain audience contact details from your app.** The app reads existing contacts and saves the changes your team makes. |
| **Campaign performance dashboard** | *Use Mailchimp and build a dashboard that compares opens, clicks, unsubscribes, and bounces for my recent sent campaigns.* | **Compare email campaign results in one place.** The app reads campaign reports and displays the results by campaign. |
| **Audience segment viewer** | *Use Mailchimp and build an internal dashboard that lists my audience segments and shows the contacts in each segment.* | **Review how your audience is grouped.** The app reads existing segments and displays their members. |

## How to connect Mailchimp

Who can create **Mailchimp** connections depends on your plan and workspace settings. **App + chat connectors** are available by default. On Business and Enterprise plans, [Who can create connections and clients](https://docs.lovable.dev/integrations/admin-controls.md#who-can-create-connections-and-clients) starts at **Admins**.

Some Enterprise workspaces start at **No one**, which disables the connector. An admin or owner changes it in **Connectors → Admin settings → App + chat connectors**.

You can create multiple **Mailchimp** connections using different accounts, for example, to manage separate organizations.

When the connection is created, you can [link it to the projects](https://docs.lovable.dev/integrations/app-connectors.md#link-a-connection-to-a-project) where you want to use it. Anyone building in a project can ask Lovable in the project chat to link their project to it.

### Prerequisites

Before connecting **Mailchimp**, make sure you have:

* A Mailchimp account with access to the audiences and campaigns you want your app to use
* Permission to **create connections** in your Lovable workspace (see [Who can create connections and clients](https://docs.lovable.dev/integrations/admin-controls.md#who-can-create-connections-and-clients))

> [!NOTE]
>
> Mailchimp bills your subscription and email usage. Lovable does not bill Mailchimp API requests.

### Set up your Mailchimp connection

You authorize Lovable by signing in to Mailchimp. You do not need an API key.

**1. Open Mailchimp in Connectors**

Open [**Connectors**](https://lovable.dev/dashboard?connectors) and select **Mailchimp**. For the other places to open the catalog from, see [Where to find connectors](https://docs.lovable.dev/integrations/introduction#where-to-find-connectors).

**2. Add a connection**

Click **Connect** on the connector page to open the connection form.

**3. Name the connection**

Under **Details**, Lovable fills in a name for the connection, which you can change. The name is only used inside Lovable to identify the connection.

**4. Choose who can use this connection**

Under **Sharing**, the connection is private to you by default and shows a **Private** label. To share it, click **Share with others**. Then add workspace members by email, or click **Invite entire workspace** to make the connection available to everyone in your Lovable workspace.

See [Who can use connections and clients](https://docs.lovable.dev/integrations/admin-controls.md#who-can-use-connections-and-clients) for more information.

**5. Connect to Mailchimp and authorize**

Click **Connect** at the bottom of the form. The Mailchimp authorization window opens, so make sure your browser doesn't block pop-ups. If it does, Lovable redirects you instead.

Sign in to Mailchimp if prompted, review the requested access, and authorize Lovable.

Lovable confirms that the connection is created.

When connected, anyone building in a project can ask Lovable in the project chat to link their project to **Mailchimp** (based on configured connection-level access). Your Lovable apps can then manage audience contacts and display campaign reports.

## Use Mailchimp in your project

After linking the connection, tell Lovable what you want to build and which Mailchimp audience to use. For example:

```text wrap theme={null}
Use Mailchimp and build a newsletter signup form for my existing Product updates audience. Collect the person's email address and first name, add the website-signup tag, and require email confirmation before subscribing them. Show a message asking them to check their inbox after they submit the form.
```

## Limitations

The **Mailchimp** connector cannot:

* Let each person using your app sign in with their own Mailchimp account. Each connection uses one account across the projects linked to it.

If you revoke access in Mailchimp, open the connection in Lovable and click **Reconnect** under **Configure connection**.

Deleting a connection in Lovable does not revoke its authorization in Mailchimp. To revoke that authorization, remove Lovable's access in Mailchimp too.

## Manage your Mailchimp connection

Connections are managed from [**Connectors**](https://lovable.dev/dashboard?connectors): select **Mailchimp**, then open the connection.

* **Unlink projects** to remove Mailchimp access from specific projects while keeping the connection available for others. See [Unlink projects from a connection](https://docs.lovable.dev/integrations/app-connectors.md#unlink-projects-from-a-connection) for the steps.
* **Delete the connection** to remove it from the workspace entirely. Deleting is permanent. It removes the credentials from all linked projects, and app features that use Mailchimp stop working until a new connection is added. See [Delete a connection](https://docs.lovable.dev/integrations/app-connectors.md#delete-a-connection) for the steps and who can delete.
