Lovable is a subscription based service with a free plan and several paid plans. When you pay for a subscription you get access to more features, and more credits. You need credits to send messages in Lovable.

When you upgrade your plan, for example, from a 100 credit plan to a 200 credit plan you don’t get 200 new credits. Instead, your total credits for the month are updated to 200. So if you already had 100 monthly credits upgrading gives you 100 more, not 200 more.

Credits

Credits are used when sending messages to generate output in Lovable. The cost depends on message complexity. Your workspace receives credits from your plan, daily allocations, and optional one-time top-ups. This section explains how credits work, how they’re used, and how to get more when you need them.

Credit display

To view how many credits you have or have used, select your workspace name on the main dashboard or the project name when inside the project editor. You’ll see how many credits you have left this billing period, as well as the credit bar. The credit bar provides a visual representation of how many credits a user has remaining and how many have been used.
  • Grey part: Shows the amount of credits already used this billing period.
  • Blue parts: Shows different types of remaining credits. Hovering over each colored section will display a tooltip indicating the credit type and the exact number of credits available for that type.

Credit usage

Lovable has a usage-based credit system, where sending messages deducts credits. The cost of a message depends on its complexity to ensure you only pay for what you actually use. Many messages cost less than 1 credit, while more complex ones may cost more. This approach allows for more precise edits and greater efficiency per message, making Lovable more affordable overall. Click the three dots beneath any message to see the cost of each message in the chat history.

Credit top-ups

Credit top-ups are available on Pro and Business plans and let you buy one-time additional credits without changing your subscription. They’re useful if you run out of credits mid-cycle or have occasional spikes in usage. Top-ups do not affect your monthly plan, billing cycle, or subscription tier. You can buy credit top-ups from:
  • Settings → Workspace → Plans & credits
  • The low-credits alert in chat when you’re running out of credits
How it works
  • Credits are purchased in 50-credit increments
  • Minimum purchase: 50 credits
  • Maximum purchase: 1,000 credits
  • Multiple purchases are allowed
  • Credits are added to your workspace instantly
  • Pricing depends on your plan:
    • Pro: $15 per 50 credits
    • Business: $30 per 50 credits
  • Top-up credits are valid for 12 months from your most recent purchase
Billing
  • Credit top-ups are billed as a one-time payment
  • Payments are processed via Stripe
  • An invoice or receipt is generated for every purchase
If you consistently need more credits each month, upgrading your plan is usually better value.

Credit rollovers

All unused monthly credits automatically roll over at the end of each billing cycle for both monthly and annual paid plans, as long as you keep an active subscription. The rolled over credits will be available for one month on the monthly plan. For users on the annual plan, the rolled over credits will be available for the rest of the time on your annual plan. Cancellation: Upon cancellation of a paid subscription, all unused and rollover credits will expire at the end of the current billing period and will not carry over.
Daily credits do not roll over. Unused daily credits will not accumulate from day to day for the free tier or for the paid tiers.

FAQ

Credits are used when sending messages in Lovable. The number of credits used depends on the complexity of the message.
  1. Go to Settings → Workspace → Plans & credits, or visit this page.
  2. Choose your desired amount of credits in the credits per month dropdown and then click “Upgrade”. Complete the upgrade in the Stripe portal.

To change your billing information, go to Settings → Workspace → Plans & credits → Manage → Edit billing information. You’ll be redirected to the Stripe portal where you can change your information.

To get more credits, go to Settings → Workspace → Plans & credits, where you can upgrade your plan or purchase a one-time credit top-up.
Your monthly credit limit will reset when your billing period resets. This happens every month on the same date that you started your subscription. For detailed date and time, check your billing section.
Daily credits are being reset every day at midnight UTC. On a free plan you can use a total of 30 free credits per calendar month.
Yes. If you’re on a Pro or Business plan, you can buy one-time credit top-ups without changing your subscription.See Credit top-ups above for details on pricing, validity, and purchase options.
You can see the remaining credits by selecting the workspace icon top left of the dashboard, or by selecting the project name while in the project editor.
We do not offer free credits through support requests.

Common issues and troubleshooting

Occasionally, payment setups may fail due to issues with Stripe. If this occurs, double-check your payment details and retry. If the problem persists, please try using a different payment method.
