Google Ads runs and reports on paid campaigns. To measure your app’s own traffic, use the Google Analytics connector instead.
- Set up an ad account for the project, either a new one Lovable creates or one you already run
- Install a tracking tag in your app and create conversion actions that match your goal
- Build and launch Search, Performance Max, and Demand Gen campaigns from the chat, with budget and targeting approved by you
- Read live campaign, keyword, and conversion data for dashboards and reports
- Manage running campaigns: pause and resume them, adjust budget and targeting, and update the ads
Common use cases and example apps
Which campaign type fits depends on whether people are already looking for what you offer. One example of each:
Your app can also display results from the connected account. Ask for something like Use Google Ads and build a dashboard that shows spend, clicks, and conversions per campaign for the last 30 days, and Lovable builds that view for you.
Change a campaign after it launches
A campaign stays editable after it goes live, and you change it by asking in chat rather than opening Google Ads: pause or resume it, adjust the budget and targeting, and update the ad’s text and images. Lovable applies the change to the running campaign. How to connect Google Ads
Who can create Google Ads connections depends on your plan and workspace settings. App + chat connectors are available by default on Free, Pro, and Business plans. On Enterprise plans, they are effectively disabled at first: Who can create connections and clients defaults to No one until an admin changes it in Connectors → Admin settings → App + chat connectors. When the connection is created, you can link it to the projects where you want to use it. Anyone building in a project can ask Lovable in chat to link their project to it.Prerequisites
Before connecting Google Ads, make sure you have:- A Google account. You do not need an existing Google Ads account, because Lovable can create one for you after you connect.
- Permission to create connections in your Lovable workspace (see Who can create connections and clients)
Ad spend is charged by Google to the payment method on your Google Ads account. Lovable does not bill for ad spend or add a fee to it, and reading your Google Ads results through the connector does not cost Lovable credits.
Set up your Google Ads connection
You can create multiple Google Ads connections in a workspace using different Google accounts, which is useful when you advertise for more than one business. A project uses one Google Ads connection at a time, so unlink the current one before linking another.1
Open Google Ads in Connectors
Open Connectors and select Google Ads. For the other places to open the catalog from, see Where to find connectors.
2
Add a connection
Click Add connection.
3
Name the connection
In Display name, name the connection (for example,
Google Ads Prod). This name is only used inside Lovable to identify the connection.4
Choose who can use this connection
Under Who can use this connection, decide who in your workspace can use the connection. You start as the only person with access:
- Only you (default): leave the access list as is; only you can use the connection and its associated data.
- Invite specific people: add workspace members by email; only you and the people you add can use the connection and its associated data.
- Invite entire workspace: click Invite entire workspace to make the connection available to everyone in your Lovable workspace.
5
Connect to Google Ads and authorize
Click Connect. The Google authorization window opens, so make sure your browser doesn’t block pop-ups. If it does, Lovable redirects you instead.Sign in with the Google account you want to advertise from, review the requested permissions, and click Allow. You’ll be redirected back to Lovable with a confirmation.
Set up your ad account
A connection on its own has no ad account attached. Ask Lovable in chat to set up ads for your project, and it opens an account setup card where you choose one of two paths.- Create new account
- Connect existing account
Lovable creates a Google Ads account for the project and invites your connected Google account to it as an admin.
1
Pick a currency and time zone
Google Ads reports and bills in the currency you pick here. Lovable sets both when it creates the account and cannot change them afterwards, so pick the ones that match the business.
2
Create the account
Click Create account. Lovable creates the account and sends an admin invitation to the Google account you connected.
3
Accept the invitation
Open the invitation email from Google while signed in as that Google account, and accept it. Back in Lovable, click Verify to confirm the access came through.
Before your ads can run
An account with campaigns in it still does not serve ads until Google’s requirements are met. Lovable reports the account’s readiness in chat. You complete two of the requirements in Google Ads:- Billing: add a payment method. Campaigns do not serve until billing is set up, and Lovable cannot do this for you.
- Identity verification: Google requires advertiser verification on some accounts. Only you can complete it, and Google’s review takes time.
- Conversion tracking: a conversion goal has to exist before a campaign is created. Lovable installs the tracking tag in your app and creates the matching conversion action.
Disconnect the ad account from a project
Disconnecting the ad account is separate from deleting the connection, and there is no standalone disconnect button. Ask Lovable in chat to use a different Google Ads account for the project. Only the person who connected Google Ads for the project can do this: if anyone else asks, Lovable declines and tells them to connect Google Ads as themselves first. The setup card reopens showing the current account, and you confirm with Disconnect and create new account or Disconnect and connect account. Lovable then releases the account, removes its manager access, and discards that project’s unpublished campaign drafts. Removing the manager access is best effort, so if Lovable is still listed as a manager in your Google Ads account afterwards, remove it there. Your Google Ads account is not deleted, and its campaigns keep running and keep spending. To stop ads from serving, pause or remove the campaigns in Google Ads before you disconnect.Limitations
The Google Ads connector cannot:- Create every Google Ads campaign type. Lovable builds Search, Performance Max, and Demand Gen campaigns. Other types, such as Display, Shopping, Video, and App campaigns, are available for reporting, and you create them in the Google Ads UI.
- Support per-end-user Google Ads login. Each connection represents a single Google account shared across all projects linked to it.
Manage your connection
Connections are managed from Connectors: select , then open the connection.- Unlink projects to remove access from specific projects while keeping the connection available for others. See Unlink projects from a connection for the steps.
- Delete the connection to remove it from the workspace entirely. Deleting is permanent. It removes the credentials from all linked projects, and app features that use stop working until a new connection is added. See Delete a connection for the steps and who can delete.
